About Iona College

Iona College is located in New Rochelle, which is a city in Westchester County, in the southeastern portion of the US state of New York, with a population estimated at a number of more than 73 000 inhabitants, during the 2007 census. According to Business Week, New Rochelle is the best city in New York State, and one of the best places nationally, to raise children, the city also being recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) as one of the 100 Best Walking Cities in America, and the 2nd best in New York State, after New York City.

Iona College was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, in 1940, and it is currently listed in the US News and World Report’s annual `America’s Best Colleges 2009` and The Princeton Review’s `Best Northeastern Colleges`. It offers its students its students numerous educational programs which include undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, science, and business administration, including master of science, art and business administration degrees, as well as numerous post-graduate certificate programs.

The College’s athletic teams are known as the Iona Gaels, who compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and participate in 22 NCAA Division I programs, also competing in basketball, since the inception of the school in 1940, having the most victories of any MAAC team since the founding of the conference, and a league record of seven MAAC titles, having participated in eight NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championships, compiling a record of 1-8, as well.
